We will take you to the wonderful Hwacheon Sancheoneo(mountain trout) Ice Festival which is well-known as recently named one of the seven wonders of winter by CNN and Lonely Planet, almost a million people visit to see the beauty of ice and enjoy lots of activities and fun!
Hawcheon, Gangwon province, is the place where the water is so fine
and the water is easily frozen and so fast.
The ice on the river is almost 50 cm thick. they make a hole on the ice and you can catch fish, especially beautiful mountain trouts A fish around 20~40cm with spots on its body. You can see thousands of people sitting in front of their holes to look into the river to catch trout~! Test your fish catching skills~! Afterwards, when you catch the fish, there are BBQ grills that you can use to taste the freshest freshwater trout ever~!
Don’t worry! Even you never tried fishing before, we have secret skills to share!
Also, we will catch at tourist foreigner only fishing zone which is not even busy compared with full of koreans at other places! it means there are much more fish in that area.You can definitely enjoy the moment of catching fish in a ice hole!
And the feeling of walking on the ice is so nice and even magical~!
it would be even better to try ice skating, sledding or various kinds of other sports on the ice~!
One of the most well-known activities to do is to catch trout with your bare hands in their pool. They’ll provide short pants and a shirt tshirts so that you wear the clothes and catch trout in the pool! this is so much fun and one of the most weird and funny expirience ever~!
